Course Title: Manual Handling Awareness
Course Outline: A session designed to teach persons the correct techniques of lifting and carrying whilst in their working environment
Section 1
This course is aimed at persons who regularly carry out repetitive Manual Handling tasks.
Section 2
The aim of this course is to educate students in the principles of Manual Handling in accordance with HSE and European guidelines and in the relevant Approved Code of Practice.
Section 3
To educate employees in the safe Manual Handling of loads whilst at work and be able to assess difficulties associated with Manual Handling and work with their employers to provide solutions. This training is meant to reduce accidents and time off work due to Manual Handling injuries.
Section 4
The Training Programme for this course is as follows:
1. Course introduction and the purposes of Manual Handling
2. UK and EC Legislation explained
3. Accident Statistics & Prevention
4. Basic Anatomy of the Spine and Related Injuries
5. Principles of Lifting/Handling
6. Practical Session
7. Course Debrief and Close
Section 5
Achievement measurement ~ There is no test requirement for Manual Handling Awareness course, however, candidates are continually assessed for the duration of the entire course. A certificate will only be issued to students who have participated satisfactorily.
